St Joseph's House in Port Pirie is a large nursing home provided by The Catholic Diocese of Port Pirie Inc that offers 67 care places. It is worth noticing that you will find several types of care places: 36 low care residential places. Low-level care homes (formerly known as hostels) generally provide accommodation and personal care which includes help with dressing and showering, and occasional nursing care, 31 high care residential places. High-level care homes (previously known as nursing homes) offer care for people who often need continuous nursing care.
The Diocese has three Aged Care Homes in the Port Pirie Diocese, St Catherine's at Berri, under the aegis of the Sisters of St Joseph, Star of the Sea, Wallaroo and St Joseph's House, Port Pirie under the care of the Port Pirie Diocese.
We are a gathering of communities scattered across vast distances, and we assemble in our schools and Homes and works for the poor, and in the churches of our parish centers. We are characterised in our terrain by the great Outback, the sheep and cattle stations and mining fields, the Aboriginal Lands, the spiritual centre of Uluru, the great stretches of wheat and barley in the Mid-North, the vines and orchards of the Riverland, the towns of the Gulf, the fishing and tourist and farming areas of the Eyre Peninsula, the beauty of the Flinders.
Our people are very conscious of our story and the pioneering struggles of our Catholic forebears in this land. We are from all backgrounds, from the First Australians to asylum seekers. We try to be the Body of Christ in this huge part of the Great Southland of the Holy Spirit.
